Alex Goldsmith is vice president of strategy and operations at Flagship Pioneering and co-founder and chief operating officer of Apriori Bio. He joined Flagship in 2017 as principal to Noubar Afeyan, the firm’s CEO, and has more recently focused on company creation with a particular interest in new technologies for disease prediction, prevention and mitigation.Prior to Flagship, Alex worked within Pfizer’s R&amp;D organization as head of business operations and strategy for Medicinal Sciences, a large division responsible for the design, development, and early manufacturing of drugs and vaccines. Alex joined Pfizer from The Boston Consulting Group, where he advised clients on critical business challenges across a range of industries.Alex holds a PhD in neurobiology from the University of Cambridge and an undergraduate degree (First Class Honours) in molecular and cellular biochemistry from Oxford University.
