Anna Honko is senior director of preclinical biology and is responsible for the organization and conduct of Apriori’s preclinical studies, working closely with cross-functional teams for antigen design and characterization. Leading the translational immunology team, she provides insights on elements of experimental design, analysis, and interpretation of the serological and cellular responses from the preclinical programs.Anna previously held roles at the US Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), the NIH Integrated Research Facility, NIH Vaccine Research Center, and Boston’s National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL). She led regulated nonclinical studies, supporting submissions to the FDA for vaccines and therapeutics for viral pathogens that require high or maximal containment at BSL-3 and BSL-4. These include diseases like Ebola virus, Lassa hemorrhagic fever virus, Mpox, and Coronaviruses (SARS, MERS, and SARS-CoV-2). She has also contributed to over 85 scientific papers, covering a wide range of subjects from animal model characterization to immunology, virus-host interactions, and the development of vaccines and therapeutics.&nbsp;Anna has a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Wake Forest School of Medicine, where she worked on adjuvant development for pneumonic plague vaccines, as well a BS in Microbiology from Clemson University.
